Table lamp - design Studio OS Δ OOS
Table lamp and art object, MATRIX was born from the essential design of the duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, established latest generation designers and founders of Studio OS Δ OOS based in Eindhoven.
When we refer to the term matrix, we mainly think of a square matrix commonly used in mathematics, that is, a combination of rows and columns. A third dimension occurs thanks to the introduction of a circle that surrounds the matrix like a ring. The design object becomes a lamp thanks to a globe of light, positioned internally and centrally to the matrix, which emits a soft and diffused light in all directions. The grid structure plays with the simple and pure shape of the illuminated sphere. The components of the Matrix, when viewed from different perspectives, create transparencies and project unusual geometric shadows on the surrounding surfaces.
The Matrix project began as a system to allow infinite configurations.
The idea derives from architectural constructions and solutions for multi-purpose situations, i.e. from the concept of form meeting function.
